Pastoral Care
When a loved one is ill, temporarily or terminally, it’s a difficult time for all family members involved. Our rabbi and cantor can serve as a source of comfort and support.
Rabbi Weiss and Cantor Littman visit Temple Har Zion members who are homebound or in local hospitals to provide comfort and offer prayers. However, because of medical privacy laws, our rabbi and cantor are not informed by hospitals when a member is a patient. We therefore encourage family members and friends, or even patients themselves, to contact Rabbi Weiss or Cantor Littman to inform them of a Temple Har Zion member who is ill, so that they may visit.
Please contact Rabbi Weiss, Cantor Littman or our Executive Director, Rachel Saslove for more information. All calls are kept confidential.
Mi Shebeirach List
We also maintain a Mi Shebeirach list of members who are convalescing or ill. Every couple of months, volunteer callers follow up with contacts of those on the list to see if there have been any changes. Furthermore, we sing our healing prayer for everyone on the list during the week at morning services and at Shabbat services. To include a name on the list, please click here.
