What Makes Us Awesome!
"My family joined Temple Har Zion when I was 6 years old and I have literally grown up here. Fast forward 35 years and THZ is still a huge part of my family. Even before we got married, my husband, Brian and I began attending Temple together and it became a part of who were are. Our daughters had their baby namings on the same Bimah where I had my Bat Mitzvah. Temple is a place where we feel comfortable—whether participating in services, to dressing up for Purim and celebrating holidays with our Temple family—it continues to be a place where we feel welcome and special. Seeing familiar faces and meeting new people is part of the wonderful experience of being part of the THZ family."

"I joined Temple Har Zion because as a Transgender, I felt immediately accepted by everyone, from Shabbat greeters, to members, staff and clergy, who all welcomed me with open arms. At that point, it did not take me long to officially join this amazing community.
I found THZ the most welcoming on the phone, as well. The comfort I felt put my mind at ease.
I was raised in an Orthodox home. At this stage of my life, being a part of a Reform synagogue has really helped me on so many levels, both spiritually and socially.
I am so thankful and grateful to the THZ family for welcoming me."

"As a congregation we are very community based in that we all know each other on a personal level, we greet each other on a first name basis; and we know our friends parents, and their kid’s names and really take an interest in each other.”

"We joined THZ five years ago after belonging to a very large Shul for thirty five years. We were pleasantly surprised to find out how warm and welcoming everyone was, from the Rabbi, the staff and the members. Even in our first year, people greeted us by name, something that never happened in the larger Shul. We found that there were so many interesting programs, we were coming to Temple several times a week to take part. We love the feeling of actually belonging here, of feeling right at home and being a part of the Temple community."

"I came to THZ for the convenience because it's the closest shul to my home, making a leap of faith from Conservative to Reform! But I stayed for the welcoming warmth of the congregation. The uplifting music and beautiful voices that are such an integral part of all services make that "leap of faith" easier and add a spiritual element to worship. I felt part of the THZ family from the start and remember wishing I could remember the names of so many people who remembered mine! As a senior living alone, I find company and friends at any of the many events and activities. I'm glad I stayed.”

"Both of our families have been members since the synagogue opened its doors and our kids have grown up here. From our wedding to Nursery, Hebrew & Religious School, Bar Mitzvahs, Confirmation, Youth Groups, Choir, Temple Board and hosting an Israeli ShinShinim – we give a lot of our time and get a lot back from being members of Har Zion. We encourage you to come for a visit – we think you’ll find it a warm and welcoming place for your family – that has a lot to offer."
